Jammu Municipal Corporation, after careful examination and considering various factors, including the inflation index, has recently revised its rates and fees. This revision comes after a significant period of time during which no changes were made.
As per the order of which a copy lies with Kashmir Despatch reads, One of the revised fees is the building permission fee, which was last fixed in 2016. Approved by the General House, the fee has been increased. Similarly, the trade tax rates, which were fixed in 1994 and remained unchanged since then, have now been revised.
For the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOC), the rates were last revised in 2019. These rates have been rationalized and adjusted to ensure that small businesses are subject to lower fees. Previously, various establishments were included in the miscellaneous category and charged uniformly at Rs. 7700/-. Now, the fees for shops, schools, and establishments have been revised based on their size. For example, creches and playschools will be charged Rs. 2000/-, primary schools Rs. 4000/-, and middle schools Rs. 6000/- per annum.
Advertisement rates have been increased to account for inflation. The street vendor license fee, last revised in 2015, has received a nominal increase over the course of 8 years. The rent for shops, godowns, and garages was last revised in 2019, but it was originally due to be revised in 2022 as per the policy.
Furthermore, the Residential Accommodation Policy has been notified in compliance with the orders of the Honorable High Court. The rent for flats occupied by authorized allottees will now be increased based on market rates determined by the rent assessment committee, in line with the policy and the directives of the Honorable High Court the statement further reads.
