Bandipora June 03:- Responding to the situation that arose due to the heavy hailstorm that occurred on the Friday evening of 02 June, the Joint Director Horticulture Kashmir, today conducted an extensive tour of the affected areas.
The unexpected natural calamity has resulted in widespread damage to fruit crops, leading to concerns for the horticultural community.
During the tour, the Joint Director visited villages of District Bandipora visited Ashtangoo, Aloosa, Kema Quil and other affected to assess the extent of the damage caused by the hailstorm, with particular focus on the severely affected regions of Tehsil Aloosa.
The JDP was accompanied by officials of Agriculture, Revenue, civil, police and PRI members.”My crops had been nurtured with care and dedication, but now they lay devastated. It breaks my heart to witness the destruction of months of hard work, our dreams had been shattered into pieces”, Bashir Ahmad an affected farmer said.
The affected farmers appealed to the government to help them to run their families as these orchards were the only source of income for their families.
Speaking with the Kashmir Despatch, JDP Zahoor Ahmad Bhat issues on-spot instructions and advisories were promptly issued by the authorities, and all the district officers’ along with their field staff were specifically directed by the Head of the Department to meticulously calculate the extent of the damage caused to the fruit crops.
He also said that will forward the damage report to higher officials and hope a positive response will come from higher officials.
