Surgical, emergency services to begin from 19th
Srinagar, Jan 13 : Principal SKIMS Medical College Dr Riyaz Ahmed Untoo on Wednesday said the hospital has decided to allow admission of patients in non surgical departments from 15th while as admission in surgical and emergency services will begin from 19th of this month.
However, Dr Untoo advised people not to lower guard against COVID and follow all the related guidelines and health advisories in letter and spirit.
“Less numbers of attendants should visit the hospital, patients should wear mask all the time even after they are administered vaccines. We won’t allow any gatherings in the hospital. We have issued guidelines on consultations, and issuance of patient cards,” he said, adding, “We are finalising all the arrangements for starting non-surgical, surgical and emergency treatments.”
He advised patients to strictly wear mask for protection against Covid19.
“We take every precaution. People should also take necessary precautions while coming here for consultations,” he pleaded.
Asked about COVID-19 vaccination, Dr Untoo observed: “It is a good feeling that vaccination drive will start here also after inauguation by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor. All the medical, para-medical staff besides data base and other logistics have been provided to the concerned department.
All the arrangements have been completed as per the guidelines for vaccination.”
He also said about 1500 COVID-19 patients were treated and fortunately the fatalities were very less in JVC.
“107 surgeries of maternity cases were performed during this period. Doctors, paramedics, sanitation staff worked very hard in those times. Infection rate here was very less due to the extra care which was taken as the COVID-19 guidelines were strictly followed,” he said.
Regarding a question about how challenging is to take care of hospital visitors, Medical Superintendent of JVC, Dr Shifa Deva said, ” We have a proper system in place. Our Principal has formulated and disseminated a proper plan for treatment of COVID-19 patients and now for non-Covid patients as well. Now for non-covid patients we have made masks and sanitizers also available besides taking other initiatives. It is very safe for patients and their attendants to visit the hospital.”
Meanwhile Patients were all praise for the doctors for providing treatment and medical consultations at JVC.
