Lt Gen Mohinder Puri hails locals’ role in war

Kargil, Jul 25 : Lieutenant General Mohinder Puri, who led the 8 Mountain Division during the Kargil War, paid tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives 25 years ago.
The event, was held in Kargil and resonated with heartfelt memories and a profound sense of patriotism, on the eve of the 25th anniversary.
“Tomorrow is a big day as 25 years have passed since the Kargil War. We have come here to pay tribute to our heroes. The locals of Kargil and Drass played a key role in the fight as they helped us,” said the emotional Lieutenant General Puri, recalling the critical support provided by the local residents during the war.
With his voice shaking with emotion, General Puri reflected on the historical significance of this day, saying, “This is a historic day, marking 25 years since the end of that war. We are here to honour our brave officers who sacrificed their lives.”
He hailed the contributions of the local people. “The locals here helped us during that time, and remembering that atmosphere brings pain to my heart,” Puri said, His words reflected the deep bonds between him and his battalion.
Lt General added, “I would like to tell the youth to live with discipline and keep patriotism alive in their hearts.”
