Kashmir Schools Now to Reopen on March 7

JKBOSE Postpones Exams Scheduled for March 1, 3 in Hard Zones

SRINAGAR, Feb 28: Winter vacations in Kashmir have been extended for all schools due to inclement weather, officials announced on Friday.

Education Minister Sakina Yatoo stated in an order, a copy of which is with Kashmir Despatch, that the winter vacations declared in Government Order No. 521-JK (Edu) of 2024 dated December 6, 2024, for all government and private schools up to the higher secondary level in the Kashmir Division and winter zones of the Jammu Division are hereby extended until March 6, 2025.

Schools will now reopen on March 7, 2025, instead of March 1, 2025, as noted in the Education Minister’s order.

In light of the recent snowfall and rains across Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has postponed all exams for classes 10 to 12, originally scheduled for March 1 and March 3, in hard zones.

JKBOSE stated in an order, “In view of inclement weather, the examinations for classes 10, 11, and 12 scheduled for March 1, 2025, and March 3, 2025, as per the date sheet already issued, are hereby postponed and rescheduled.”

The board noted that the examinations originally scheduled for March 1 for classes 10 and 11 will now be held on March 25.

In the case of 12th standard students, the examinations that were scheduled for March 1 will now take place on March 24. JKBOSE further stated that the time and venue for the examinations will remain unchanged.

Meanwhile, due to inclement weather conditions IUST postponed all exams scheduled for Friday. In an order of which a copy lies with Kashmir Despatch reads this is for the information of all the concerned that 1st semester exams scheduled for 28-02-2025 are hereby postponed. The fresh dates for the said exams shall be notified later.

However, Kashmir University, Cluster University Srinagar and the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) conducted all exams scheduled for Friday as per plan.
