Srinagar, May 22: Amid scorching weather conditions, Education Minister Sakina Itoo announced on Thursday that school timings will be changed starting next Monday.
Speaking to reporters, Itoo did not specify the exact timings but stated that they would be detailed in an official order, which is being issued soon.
“We have received numerous calls from parents regarding the change in school timings. After consideration, we have decided to shift to an early morning schedule from Monday,” Itoo said.
She also supported the suggestion that morning assemblies should be conducted in shaded areas or inside large halls where available.
Over the past few weeks, daytime temperatures have risen significantly, and the weather department has predicted that the heatwave conditions are likely to persist.
Notably, Kashmir Despatch had earlier reported on the plans to adjust school timings in response to the heatwave.
