Baramulla, Jan. 25: In a stunning display of military precision and technological innovation, Baramulla hosted the “Know Your Army” event on Saturday as part of this year’s Republic Day celebrations.
The event was designed to foster a deeper connection between the Indian Army and the public while showcasing the Army’s operational capabilities and advancements under the theme “Awaam aur Jawaan.”
The festivities commenced with an impressive 500-meter-long National Flag procession, which saw 150 children participating in the vibrant Tiranga Yatra. A majestic 35-meter-high National Flag was also displayed, symbolizing national pride and patriotism.
Organized by the Dagger Division of the Chinar Corps, the event marked the 76th Republic Day celebration. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Dagger Division served as the Chief Guest, accompanied by the Commander of the Baramulla Brigade. The occasion was honored by representatives from the district administration, various security forces—including BSF, CRPF, and JKP—along with NCC cadets.
Over 2,500 attendees, including community members, youth leaders, students, and families, came together to enjoy the spectacular array of activities.
Highlights of the Event
The showcase featured a variety of attractions, including:
– Drones performing flypasts and live demonstrations of artillery in action.
– Exhibits of the Army’s latest vehicles and advanced equipment.
– Cultural performances, including traditional Sikh Gatka and a karate display by Chinar YUVA Karate Kids.
– A captivating dog show by the Army’s K9 units and an energetic military band performance.
– An interactive Mobile Museum that shared moving stories of camaraderie between the local community and the Army.
Youth leader Touseef Raina expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Such initiatives engage with young people, dispel myths about the Army, and instill a sense of pride. It has motivated many to consider careers in the defense forces.”
Local resident Shadaab shared his excitement, saying, “This is the first time such an event has been held here. The performances by trained Army dogs and the Sikh Gatka were truly remarkable.”
Rehman Malik, a student from GDC Baramulla, noted, “I’ve never witnessed such an impressive display of weapons and vehicles. The Military Band was extraordinary and very unique.”
Further, the Army recruitment counter offered information about opportunities for youth to join the armed forces.
The “Know Your Army” event not only celebrated the technological and cultural strength of the Army but also reinforced its commitment to building trust and cooperation with the people of Baramulla.
