Date:

KD Correspondent

Baramulla, May 14: With the Baramulla-1 Parliamentary Constituency set to go for polls on May 20 during the fourth phase of Lok Sabha Elections-2024, the Home Voting process began today.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that across the 1-Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the home-voting facility for voters aged 85 years and above, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) today.

He said that the Home Voting process commenced in the 1-Baramulla parliamentary constituency seat and will continue up to Thursday, covering all the segments. He added that after the completion of the three-day process, the ECI will share complete details from all segments of the Baramulla parliamentary constituency seat.

Under the ‘home voting’ facility, which is a path-breaking initiative of the ECI, poll parties along with the necessary materials are dispatched to the houses of eligible voters where they collect the votes of eligible persons at their doorsteps.

It is worth mentioning that the ECI has, for the first time, initiated the facility of home voting, where poll parties along with voting facilities were dispatched to the houses of eligible voters to facilitate their home voting facility and collect their votes at their respective places.

The exercise involved a dedicated team of polling officials, including the Presiding Officer, security personnel, and other poll parties, who collected the votes of eligible voters under the prescribed guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

The home voters hailed the Election Commission for reaching their doorsteps and providing them with such facilities at their homes.
