Ganderbal: The 2-day Annual Urs of Hazrat Mir Syed Shah Sadiq Qalander (R.A), popularly known as Shah Sahib, was observed with religious fervor in Lar, Ganderbal, on Saturday.
On this auspicious day, the Urs was marked by the recitation of the holy Quran, prayers, and Naat. Special prayers were offered for peace and tranquility in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Devotees, including women and children, turned out in large numbers to pay their obeisance at the shrine of the Sufi saint located at Lar village in Ganderbal district.
The main objective of Shah Sahib was to spread brotherhood. He preached about peace and humanity and emphasized spirituality and the teachings of Islam, said Showkat Ahmad Baba, a local resident of Lar.
Baba said Hazrat Mir Syed Shah Sadiq Qalander (RA) was one of the most revered 11th-century Saints in Kashmir, and Kashmir has remained a land blessed with saints for many centuries. He added that everyone who visits the shrine returns with the blessings of peace.
The district authorities had made special arrangements for the annual Urs of the Sufi saint.
