Legislative Jehad Being Waged to Shield Land Encroachers: Sunil Sharma

SRINAGAR, Mar 20: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Thursday alleged that a “legislative Jehad” is being waged in Jammu & Kashmir to shield land encroachers.

Speaking during the Grants of Departments session, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Sharma, claimed that legislative Jehad is being used to protect encroachers in the Union Territory.

“Why is Nazir Gurezi upset if a few people from Haryana construct houses here? A committee led by a judge found that 689 encroachers in the Tawi River area belong to a particular community and region,” Sharma remarked.

Reacting to these statements, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urged caution, emphasizing the importance of avoiding remarks that could hurt religious sentiments. “What does the Leader of Opposition want to prove? That Muslims know nothing except Jehad?” Abdullah questioned.
