LG pays tributes to martyrs of Karbala

SRINAGAR, Aug 9: On the occasion of Youm-i-Ashoora, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha remembered Imam Hussain (AS) and others martyrs ot Karbala.

“Remembering the sacrifice of martyrs of Karbala on the occasion of Ashura. The martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions has guided the humanity to strive for justice, values & righteousness.” the LG wrote on his official Twitter handle.

The month of Muharram is considered to be the second holiest month in the Islamic calendar and marks the start of the Islamic New Year.

The 10th day of Muharram is called Ashoora. It marks the day Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and son of the fourth Caliph of Islam Hazrat Ali (RA), was martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
