In a case of online fraud, a man is reported to have been receiving Rs 1,000 monthly by the Chhattisgarh government, in the name of actress Sunny Leone. According to a report with The Indian Express, the man had been receiving the monthly amount under the state government’s Mahatari Vandan Yojana.
The revelation was made after the Mahatari Vandan Yojana website was scanned, thus filtering out details of a beneficiary registered with the name Sunny Leone and her husband mentioned as Jonny Sins, the report stated.
One of the files displayed ‘Sunny Leone’ as the name of the beneficiary, while her husband’s name was mentioned as ‘Jonny Sins’.
The report also claimed that the application was received at the Anganwadi level in the Talur sector of Bastar district.
The file mentions “verified” by the Anganwadi and another supervisor. It also states that the person has received the beneficiary amount for ten months — March to December.
The report also quoted Bastar collector Haris S as saying, “We are looking into the matter.”
A senior police official from Bastar was also quoted as saying that action would be taken if any complaint is received from the district administration.
Later, state Congress president Deepak Baij, in a social media post, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of favouring their supporters through the scheme.
“Mahtari Vandan money is going to BJP’s favourites in the name of Sunny Leone,” Baij’s X post in Hindi suggested. (Agencies )
