MeT predicts dry weather till Dec 28

SRINAGAR, Dec 18: After a light spell of snowfall and rains across the Valley, the Kashmir parts have recorded an improvement in the weather conditions on Monday while Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort has recorded the season’s coldest night at minus 8.0 degree Celsius.

Gulmarg is among the places where fresh snowfall occurred under the influence of a feeble Western Disturbance on December 16. The weatherman has, however, predicted a dip in the minimum temperature by 2-4 degree Celsius from December 18.

The mercury has settled above freezing point at several places which include Srinagar, Kokernag and Baramulla.

As per the data, Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of 0.5 degree Celsius. Qazigund, the gateway of Kashmir, also recorded a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius.

In Kokernag, a minimum temperature of 1.1 degree Celsius was recorded.

However, Pahalgam, a famous tourist place, has recorded a low of minus 5.8 degree Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir has recorded a low of minus 2.2 degree Celsius.

Moreover, the Meteorological department here has predicted dry weather conditions till December 28, 2023.

As per the forecast, Director Meteorological department, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad had told KNO that the weather is expected to remain generally dry till December 22nd.

He had informed that generally cloudy with possibility of light snow over isolated higher reaches is expected on December 23.

Furthermore, from December 24-28, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, adding that overall no significant weather activity is expected till December 28.
