Mission Vatsalya, a department of the Social Welfare Baramulla, organized a one-day awareness programme on the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015.
The aim of the programme was to enhance understanding and awareness of the Act and foster collaborative efforts to protect and promote the welfare of children.
The event was attended by representatives from various government departments, including Health, Education, Police, and Mission Poshan.
Honorable Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board Bla, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Ganaie, and the Honorable Secretary of DLSA Baramulla, Mr. Mohd Igbal Akhoon, were present on the occasion.
During the programme, several speakers shed light on different aspects of the Act, discussing its provisions and implications. They stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure its effective implementation.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and commitment to protecting and promoting the welfare of children.
Principal Magistrate Zahoor Ahmad Ganaie emphasized the need for collaborative work in this sensitive field to protect children and enable them to become strong contributors to society.
Secretary Mohd Iqbal Akhoon provided an overview of the Juvenile Justice Act and highlighted the role of every citizen in its proper implementation. He called on everyone to act in accordance with the spirit of the Act.
DSWO Sajad Ahmad provided an overview of the Mission Vatsalya scheme and its objectives, which aim to be achieved through the widespread implementation of the JJ Act.
Legal Probation Officer Mir Kaisar outlined the various provisions of the Act and explained the roles of statutory bodies such as the Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee, and the implementing authority in the district, DCPU.
Advocate Ashfaq Hussain Wani, Deputy Chief Defence Cousin DLSA, emphasized the role of allied departments like education, health, and police in the proper implementation of the Act. He highlighted the need for coordination and collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the well-being and protection of children.
The awareness programme served as an important platform for raising awareness and promoting cooperation among various sectors to safeguard the rights and welfare of children, in accordance with the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015.
