Consultative committee attached to MoRTH to meet at Sonamarg

Srinagar, Apr 05: Of late, Jammu & Kashmir has emerged as one of the favourite destinations for parliamentary committees for their meetings and study tours. With the budget session set to conclude on Thursday, a parliamentary committee is holding its meeting in the picturesque tourist resort of Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The consultative committee of members of the parliament attached with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is visiting the J&K Union Territory from April 9 to 11.

According to details available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the committee headed by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari and comprising MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is holding its meeting in Sonamarg to discuss a number of issues.

Apart from Gadkari and his deputy V.K. Singh, the committee comprises 21 MPs from Lok Sabha and three from Rajya Sabha.

The issues of implementation of vehicle scrapping policy, review of Bharatmala Pariyojana and new bus ports policy would be discussed during the meeting. Other issue(s) can also come up for discussion in the meeting.

The meeting is expected to be attended by officials from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, National Highways Authority of India, National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and other agencies.

Meanwhile, the J&K administration has geared up to play host for the meeting. The General Administration Department and the Roads & Buildings Department have appointed a team of officers for the smooth conduct of the visit—(KNO)
