Srinagar, Jul 25 : In a first-of-its-kind in the history of Jammu & Kashmir, two tallest Alm-e-Sharief have been hoisted on Srinagar’s foreshore road.

Aga Syed Abid Hussain, a Shia leader, who headed the installation, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two Alm-e-Shariefs were hoisted on the busy foreshore road.

“The size of the first is 62 feet and the second was almost 72 feet tall,” Aga said, adding that both flags have been made by locals of the area in order to show their respect and love for Imam Hussain (AS).

It took us almost a day to install the flags as the boulevard is always busy with traffic, he said, adding that the height of ‘Alm’ was very much tall and we installed it in almost a day.

The locals of the area have been installing the flags there for a long time, but this time, they planned to install such two big flags. The Alm-e-Sharief is unglued from the site soon after the month of Muharram and some days of Safar, Hussain added.

Likewise, the locals and others associated with Muharram preparations have installed many other banners and hooding on the side of the Dal Lake and foreshore road—(KNO)
