Sopore : The Municipal Council Sopore Monday held a meeting with the stakeholders of the town under the banner of Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.
Various dignitaries participated in the meeting led by MC President Masrat Rasool Kar.
The Chief Executive Officer Tariq Ahmad Reshi was also present in the meeting. The town councilors, college principals besides senior citizens of town also participated in the meeting and discussed threadbare ways to eradicate the menace of drugs.
During the meeting, awareness programs related to the youth and healthy society were discussed.
The participants focused on collective effort for eradicating the illegal activities from the town and to save the younger generation from being involved in wrong practices.
MC President Masrat Rasool Kar said it’s sad to see how the local administration is skipping such programs despite being invited.
She said for such programs collective effort is needed to raise voice and to work on ground.
Speaking on the occasion MC President appealed to all the stakeholders to take responsibility for safeguarding the town.
She also appealed to them to involve mohallah heads for this cause.
Councillor Irfan Ali also spoke on the occasion and demanded a rehabilitation centre for the town.
“If the administration has provided one rehabilitation center for the people of Kupwara town, why not for people of Sopore as it is need of the hour,” Irfan added.
