Tangdhar valley located in Karnah, Kupwara is emerging as a dream destination for adventure activities.
An off roading group called ‘The Valley Wanderers’ led by it’s president Irfan Shah carried out an off roading expedition from Anantnag- Srinagar- Shopian to Tithwal on 19 March with an aim to promote adventure activities in remote areas of J&K.
The event culminated with a cultural musical event at Tithwal along the Line of Control wherein the local rock band ‘Shining Karnah’ performed on Pahari and Gojri music. The off roading group comprised 50 people with 15 SUVs and 12 Bikes.
It would be pertinent to highlight that last year also a Thar rally was organised from Jammu to Tithwal by off roading group named ‘Wandering Beyond Boundaries’ in February.
A car rally from Shopian to Tithwal by ‘The Valley Wanderers’ and a Enfield Bullet Bike rally from Anantnag to Tithwal, Chhamkot in August. The Thar rally by ‘Wandering Beyond Boundaries’ has also found mention in the Coffee Table book released on their feats across India.
A skiing and adventure node is also being established in Tangdhar with an aim to promote tourism and resultantly job opportunities. Plans are afoot to introduce mountain trekking, mountain terrain biking and cultural tourism in Tangdhar.
The node is being inaugurated on 20 March at Zarla (South of NC Pass also famously known as Sadhna Pass).
