One Armyman injured as Gunfight rages in Shopian village

Srinagar: A nocturnal gunfight rages between militants and goverment forces in Batagund area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.

Report’s reaching GNS said that a joint team of army’s 34RR, CRPF and SOG Shopian launched a cordon and search operation in Batagund after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.

A senior Police official told GNS that some exchange of firing has taken in Batagund and in initial gunfight one Armyman is injured and has been been shifted to Hospital for treatment, the officer said.

As per the sources there to four militants are trapped inside a residential house.

Till this report was filed intermittent firing was going on.
