Sopore, July 7 : A 22-year-old footballer from Sopore has earned a spot in the Kashmir Super League (KSL), the region’s first corporate franchise-based football tournament.
Mehraj-ul-Din, son of Farooq Ahmad Pahloo from Shair Colony, Sopore, has been selected to participate in the prestigious league, set to begin soon in Srinagar.
Proving that dreams do come true, Mehraj’s relentless hard work and dedication have finally paid off. Despite limited external support, his unwavering passion for football has led him to this milestone achievement.
“I am deeply passionate about football, and this opportunity brings me immense joy. With my parents’ support and blessings, I aim to reach even greater heights,” Mehraj said.
An athlete, Mehraj trains every morning at the local stadium and spends his evenings refining his skills. “Nothing is impossible—hard work and dedication can turn dreams into reality,” he added.
Mehraj also urged the Sopore administration and MLA Irshad Rasool Kar to prioritize improving sports infrastructure in the town. “It’s crucial to nurture young talent—whether in football, cricket, or other sports—to help them excel,” he emphasized.
Bilal Dar, a local sports enthusiast, hailed the selection as a proud moment for Sopore. “This platform can transform Mehraj into a star and change his life forever. His journey sends a powerful message to aspiring athletes.”
He further stressed that Mehraj’s success highlights the importance of sports in diverting youth from negative influences. “Engaging in sports can pave the way for a brighter, more promising future for our youth.”
Nasir, another sports lover from Sopore, called the achievement significant and expressed hope that it would inspire other youngsters. “Despite limited facilities, our youth continue to shine. Authorities must invest in better infrastructure to unlock their full potential.”
Notably, MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar has often emphasized his commitment to sports development. *”Time will tell how our efforts translate into tangible improvements in infrastructure and opportunities for young athletes,” he had remarked earlier.
