Give me 50 crore, will kill Modi: Sacked BSF trooper in video

0

Former Border Security Force (BSF) trooper Tej Bahadur Yadav, whose nomination was cancelled from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, has said that he could kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi if provided with Rs 50 crores.

Tej Bahadur has reportedly admitted that he is in the clip but alleged there is a conspiracy behind it. Meanwhile, the BJP has lashed out at Tej Bahadur.

Here are the excerpts of the shocking conversation Tej Bahadur Yadav can be seen as having with some friends, reportedly Delhi Police personnel:

Tej Bahadur Yadav: Give me money and I will kill Modi.

Friend: You are okay with killing Modi?

Tej Bahadur Yadav: Give me Rs 50 crores.

Friend: 50 crores? You won’t get that much money in India at least. Pakistan can give you Rs 50 crores.

Tej Bahadur Yadav: No, I won’t do such a thing. I am loyal to my country.

Friend: But Modi is the Prime Minister of India.

Tej Bahadur Yadav: No, I won’t be disloyal to my country. Money does not matter.

Friend: Why I asked you this question…is because you just said that you can kill Modi for Rs 50 crores.

Tej Bahadur Yadav: No, but not at the cost of my loyalty towards my country. Only if I am getting the money from an Indian.

In 2017, the BSF had set up a court of inquiry against Tej Pratap Yadav after his videos complaining about poor food — “watery dal and burnt chapatis” — served to the troops on the frontlines surfaced online. His videos went so viral that the home ministry ordered an investigation and even the Prime Minister’s Office asked for a report.

Yadav was shifted out of the Line of Control as the controversy escalated, and later dismissed on charges of making false claims. Alleging persecution, Yadav also put out a video complaining that the authorities hadn’t really probed his allegations.

Nearly a year later in April last, the BSF commissioned an assessment by the Defence Research and Development Organisation of meals served to jawans and officers of the paramilitary force.

No outdoor sport for my daughters, feminists can say whatever they want to: Afridi

Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi’s autobiography has been in limelight ever since it is launch.

The maverick all rounder has been under fire for what he has written about former legends of the game including Javed Miandad.

Now it has come to fore that Afridi in his books says his four daughters will not be allowed to play sport outdoors.

In his just-released biography Game Changer, Afridi wrote that he’d made that ruling ‘for social and religious reasons’.

The veteran all-rounder, who holds the record for most sixes in ODI history, has four daughters – Aqsa, Ajwa, Asmara and Ansha.

“Aqsa is in the 10th grade, Ansha is in the ninth. They’re both great at sports and even better in academics,” Afridi wrote.

“Ajwa and Asmara are the youngest and love to play dress-up. They have my permission to play any sport, as long as they’re indoors. Cricket? No, not for my girls. They have permission to play all the indoor games they want, but my daughters are not going to be competing in public sporting activities.

“It’s for social and religious reasons that I’ve made this decision and their mother agrees with me. The feminists can say what they want; as a conservative Pakistani father, I’ve made my decision,” Afridi wrote.

Blood pressure measurement at home more accurate than doctor’s reading: DAK

0

Srinagar: You are more likely to get an accurate blood pressure reading at home than at the doctor’s office,” said Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Tuesday in a communiqué.

“Home measurement gives a more accurate picture of an individual’s blood pressure than reading in a medical setting,” said DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan.

“Your blood pressure is higher when it is taken in a medical setting than it is when taken at home,” he said.

“This is because of white-coat effect which happens as you are nervous about having your blood pressure checked by a doctor,” he added.

DAK President said up to 50% patients with high office blood pressure readings have normal readings in their homes.

“Home monitoring reduces the need for clinic visits and involves people more in their care which can bolster their efforts to make behavior changes and take their medication,” he said adding that “readings taken at home provide a better sense of how well a medication or other blood pressure lowering strategy is working.”

“Research has found that regular home blood pressure monitoring better predicts a patient’s risk of blood pressure related outcomes such as heart attack, stroke and kidney damage,” Dr Nisar informed.

He said people can self monitor their blood pressure in the comforts of their homes by using automatic home blood pressure devices that are precise, accurate and easy to use.

“Under new guidelines anyone with blood pressure higher than130/80 is considered to have hypertension or high blood pressure. The new norms recommend home blood pressure monitoring which provides a more reliable assessment of actual blood pressure than office blood pressure,” said Dr Nisar.

China bans Muslims from fasting in Xinjiang

China has imposed ban on civil servants, students and children on observing Ramadhan in a mainly-Muslim region of Xinjiang from taking part in fasting.

China’s ruling Communist party is officially atheist and for years has banned government employees and minors from fasting in Xinjiang, home to the more than 10 million strong mostly Muslim Uighur minority.

It has also ordered restaurants to stay open. The region sees regular clashes between Uighurs and state security forces, and Beijing has blamed deadly attacks there and elsewhere in China on militants seeking independence for the resource-rich region.

“Food service workplaces will operate normal hours during Ramadan,” said a notice posted last week on the website of the state Food and Drug Administration in Xinjiang’s Jinghe county. Officials in the region’s Bole county were told: “During Ramadan do not engage in fasting, vigils or other religious activities,” according to a local government website report of a meeting this week.

Each year, the authorities’ attempt to ban fasting among Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang receives widespread criticism from rights groups.

Urges administration for adequate compensation to fire victims

SRINAGAR, May 7: Former Finance Minister, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari has expressed deep shock and grief over a devastating fire incident in which over 10 shops were gutted during a midnight blaze on Monday night at Maharaja Bazar Srinagar.

Bukhari has urged the district administration Srinagar to ensure distribution of an interim compensation to the victims of this tragedy before a final assessment of their damages is conducted by the revenue officials.

He also called for an immediate assessment of losses suffered by the fire victims. The former also urged the municipal authorities to facilitate immediate issuance of permissions for reconstruction of the shops so that the fire hit families are able to resume their day-to-day business.

Bukhari appealed people to take all preventive measures in order to avoid and ward off such disastrous tragedies in future. “What is even more distressing is the fact that God forbid such accidents can happen again mostly because we hardly maintain mandatory fire safety norms or take any preventive measures,” he observed.

Bukhari said that many localities especially in Amirakadal constituency are not only congested but due to narrow lanes and by-lanes the fire department at times faces immense difficulties in controlling such catastrophic mishaps. “I appeal people to take all precautions in order to save precious lives and properties from such menacing tragedies in future,” the former minister appealed.

On the directions of the former minister, a delegation from his private office also visited the fire victims ensuring them all possible help in their rehabilitation. Expressing solidarity with the affected families, the delegation assured all possible help to the victims of this unfortunate tragedy.

BJP cancels Anupam Kher’s rally after no one turns up

A rally that had to be addressed by actor Anupam Kher had to be cancelled by the Bharatiya Janta Party after no one turned up for the event.

According to The Tribune the first public meeting was to be held in a residential area of Sector 28-C at 4 pm. However, it had to be cancelled at the last minute with no information even to many party leaders and the media.

Mannu Bhasin, one of the organisers, said they had to get tents from the party office but did not get those in time. Sources said since the party could not gather crowd, which was another reason for the meeting having been called off. The party was in for another embarrassment when the actor had to drive back from the inner market of Sector 35-C without attending a ‘jan sabha’ as arrangements were not made at the scheduled time (5 pm) of the event.

Anupam rolled down a windowpane of his car only to see no crowd or tent there. He left and did not return.

The function though later began after 6 pm. Councillor Heera Negi was asked to address the gathering of about 50 people.

As per the party schedule, 200 persons were supposed to be there. However, arranging crowd proved an uphill task for the organisers. Priti Verma, an organiser, blamed it on not getting tents from the party office in time.

Satinder Singh, co-convener, BJP election committee, said, “It was nothing but mismanagement and communication gap which spoiled the events.” A BJP leader claimed that some issues were cropping up as there were two power houses in the local party — MP Kirron Kher and city BJP chief Sanjay Tandon. Things were being managed at two levels, the leader added.

People resent ‘harsh’ move, Div Com says people within 20 kilometers radius exempted completely

Nadeem Nadu

Srinagar, May 7 : People on Tuesday protested against authorities for imposing toll tax near Sangam on Srinagar-Jammu highway in south Kashmir.

A number of people told GNS that the toll plaza was made operational from today and every vehicle passing through it was charged toll of  Rupees 85 for every light motor vehicle.

“This is outrages how can government impose such a harsh order against people of Kashmir asking us to pay Rupees 170 per day from moving to and fro on the highway,”  said a person, showing a receipt of Rs 85 collecting as toll by National Highways Authority Of India.

Another person from Ganderbal said that he was shocked when asked to pay Rs 85 before being allowed to move on the thoroughfare.

“We don’t earn as much as what is being charged. Having already banned civilian traffic on highway by virtue of order on April 3, it seems that the authorities by imposing such harsh tax, the government has decided to completely shut the highway for the civilians throughout the week,” he said, adding someone told me that it is not applicable for people living within the radius of 20 kilometers from the Toll Plaza.

“I fall beyond the limits, meaning thereby that I have to pay Rs 170 every day I move beyond Sangam and on return back,” he said.

As the toll was started to be collected from today most of the people protested against it and refused to pay, leading to the traffic jam on the highway around the toll plaza, reports and eyewitness told GNS.

When contacted Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan said that the issue was taken by him with authorities in New Delhi, and from now onwards people living within 20 kilometers radius of toll plaza will not have to pay anything.

“A formal notification in this regard will be issued soon,” the Divisional Commissioner told GNS. (GNS)
