Sardar Janak Singh Sodhi of Baramulla joins National Conference

Srinagar, Mar 30 : Noted Socio-political leader Sardar Janak Singh Sodhi of Baramulla on Saturday joined National Conference here at the Gupkar Residence of party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah.

Among others party vice president Omar Abdullah, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, and Sardar Jagjeet Singh Azad were also present.

Terming Sardar Janak Singh’s joining the party fold as second home coming, party vice president said, “Janak Singh Ji has immensely contributed for the preservation of inter communal bonhomie of the state. His role in furthering the cause of inter-religious harmony is immense. Once in power we will ensure speedy redressal of the grievances of Sikh Community.”

Meanwhile Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and additional general secretary Dr. Sheikh Mutufa Kamal participated in the Nimaz- e- Jinazah of the daughter of late Sheikh Abdul Hamed of Soura. The duo prayed for peace to the soul of departed and strength to the grief stricken family to bear the loss.

If Article 370 is revoked, JK’s relation with India will end: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Mar 30 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti today cautioned the Narendra Modi led NDA government over its position of scrapping Article 370.

Mehbooba while addressing party workers here said if Article 370 is revoked, it will make an end to India’s relations with J&K.

“Breaking that bridge (Art 370)…then you will have to renegotiate relationship between India-Jammu&Kashmir, there will be new conditions…,” She added.

Mehbooba stated that it will also be important at that time to ponder whether the Muslim majority state, would it even want to stay with you (India)?…If you scrap 370, your relation with J&K will be over.”

Boy drowns in Nullah Brengi in Kokernag

A 15 year old boy identified as Nazir Ahmad Bimla Son of Fareed Ahmad Bimla resident of Magam , Sona Brari , Kokernag drowned in Nullah Brengi today evening.

His dead body was recovered from Brengi near Khalhar .

The boy was walking on the incomplete bridge over the Nullah with his father when he lost balance and slipped in to Nullah.

A local resident Mohammad Yousuf Naikoo told that the work was started on the bridge in 2011 but latter the contractor stopped the work on the bridge and since than it has become a death Tral for the People as many accidents occurred on the bridge since last 7 years.

Man shot dead by unknown gunmen in Baramulla

Srinagar, March 30: A 35-year old man was killed by unknown gunmen at Baramulla town in north Kashmir on Saturday evening.

A senior Police officer confirmed to GNS that the man namely Arjumand Hussain (35) alias Raju Mistry, a resident of old town Khawajabagh Baramulla was fired upon by militants in main town Baramulla leaving him critically injured.

The officer further said that he was shifted to nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors who operated upon him.(GNS)

Pulwama Grenade Blast: One CRPF personnel injured

Srinagar, March 30: A paramilitary CRPF man was injured after militants on Saturday hurled a grenade on CRPF bunker near SBI Branch in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

A police officer told GNS that militants attacked a bunker of paramilitary CRPF 182 bn guarding the SBI branch Pulwama.

“In the blast, one CRPF trooper suffered injuries. The injured have been evacuated to hospital for treatment where his condition is said to be stable,” he said.

Soon after the incident government forces have launched a hunt to nab the attackers. (GNS)

Strong windstorm hits Baramulla parts, two houses damages

Baramulla, March 30 : Two residential houses were damaged after the strong windstorm hits north Kashmir’s Baramulla parts early Saturday.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that two houses were damaged after the strong windstorm followed by heavy rains hits north Kashmir’s Baramulla ,Sopore parts.

Reports said in Border town Uri two residential houses belonged to
Mohammad Rafeeq and Mir Hussain of Machikrand Uri were damaged after strong windstorm hits the area on Saturday morning.

However no loss of life or injury reported in the incident.

Meanwhile officials in civil admin also confirmed the incident to Kashmir Despatch and said a team of local administration took stock of the areas where wind storm hit.

Pertinently Metrological department has forecast more rains in next 24 hours.

Major setback for Congress as Sham Lal Joins BJP

Sources in BJP told news agency that, Sham lal Sharma will be elevated to an important position in the Bharatiya Janta Party in the coming days and it will be announced by the Bhartiya Janta Party National President Amit Shah in his rally on Sunderbani on April 3. Sources also said that Congress too had offered Sham lal post of working president, but he denied keeping in view the sinking ship of Congress. Definitely Sharma’s joining BJP will make the party stronger in Jammu Division, Avinash told news agency

Sharma is also brother of two times Congress MP Madan lal Sharma. Earlier Sharma resigned from the Post of Vice President of Congress last year charged the leadership with ignoring the core issues of Jammu and failed to strike a balance between all three regions of the state, including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Two times MLA Sharma lost to BJP’s Rajiv Sharma in the Akhnoor Assembly seat by a margin of 9,380 votes in the last assembly Elections.

Santro Car Damaged Amid Mysterious Blast After Hitting CRPF Bus On Highway

Srinagar, March 30 : Panic gripped Banihal area along Srinagar-Jammu highway amid a mysterious blast when a Santro car hit CRPF bus on the thoroughfare on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities have rushed a team of experts to the spot to ascertain whether the blast happened due to gas cylinder explosion inside the car or due to any explosive material.

A police officer said that the driver of the Santro Car disappeared from the spot and it is being verified whether he fled away or rushed to hospital in order to get treatment for the injuries which he might have suffered in the incident.

“A team of experts is on the spot and is ascertaining the nature of the blast,” he said, adding, “preliminary investigations suggest that it was a gas cylinder blast given the fact that there were no injuries to any CRPF personnel or pedestrians on the roadside at that time”.

However, police sources did not rule out the possibility of militant strike.

All angles are being looked into and it would be after the completion of the investigations that true nature of the blast will come to fore, sources said.

The officer said that the Santro car has suffered damage in the incident and details about the driver would be confirmed soon.

Soon after the blast, there was a panic in the area and traffic on the strategic highway was halted for a brief period of time. (GNS)

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said amid incresent weather conditions forces jointly by Army’s 14 RR, Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted house to house search operation at Check Arsala Khan- Malikhama area of Bandipora in north Kashmir

Official sources told Kashmir Despatch following inputs about presence of some militants in the area operation was launched.

Searches in the area was on when last reports came in.
