Ignore ‘misleading’ Badami Bagh chalo call, Army ‘advises’ people

0

Srinagar, Dec 15: The Army has asked people not to pay heed to the Joint Resistance Leadership’s “misleading” call for a march to Badami Bagh cantonment to protest civilian killings by forces.

The JRL comprising Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik and Syed Ali Geelani called for the Badami Bagh march after forces killed seven civilians and three militants in Pulwama on Saturday.

The Army said it was along with other forces and civil administration fighting “terrorism and proxy war sponsored by Pakistan” in Kashmir.

“The objective of the Security Forces (SFs) is to bring peace and normalcy in the Valley with the support of Awaam,” an army spokesman said in a statement.

Militants killed in gunfights across Kashmir and along the line of control were involved in killing of ” innocent Kashmiris including civilians, SPOs, police personnel and other SF personnel on leave,” the spokesman said.

Forces make “every attempt to avoid any loss of civilian lives in cross-fire and minimise collateral damage to property,” the spokesman said.

“Loss of any civilian life is always painful for the Security Forces. However, the vested interests are continuously at work to instigate and mobilise gullible youths to encounter sites. The call given by JRL for march to Badami Bagh Cantonment is another such attempt,” the spokesman said.

The Army condemns “this call by Pak proxies and advises people not to fall prey to such designs of anti-national forces.”

“Indian Army is always with the people of Kashmir and would foil all such evil attempts of Terrorist-Separatist-Pakistan nexus to pit the civilian population against the Security Forces,” the spokesman said.

A shutdown called by JRL on Sunday to protest the civilian killings a day before in Pulwama district, has paralysed life across the Kashmir Valley.

The shutdown has been called by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) separatist conglomerate.

On Saturday, seven civilians were killed and over 35 others injured in clashes with the security forces which broke out in Pulwama district’s Sirnoo village immediately after a gunfight in the area.

High tension continued for the second day in the South Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian where the impact of the protest shutdown was maximum.

Governor Satya Pal Malik has ordered a probe into Saturday’s killings led by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan.
On Monday, the separatists have called a protest march to the Badami Bagh headquarters of the Army’s 15 Corps in Srinagar.

Stone-Pelters Are Terrorists: Gen Rawat

0

NEW DELHI — Reiterating his stand that stone is as lethal as gun in Kashmir Indian army chief General Bipin Rawat on Saturday again equated stone-pelters in Kashmir with militants.

He also discredited the sense of alienation and resentment among Kashmiris for the Indian army as a false impression created by the media.

In an exclusive interview with CNN-News18 Saturday night, General Bipin Rawat said the “terrorists are feeding a wrong impression” of India to the Kashmiris and that the people in the valley live under the “fear of terrorists”.

Speaking on the issue of stone-pelting, Rawat said “The forces lose their calm only when there is a question of an appropriate reaction to the stone-pelters.”

“The question is – how should the army react? We avoid using guns in cases of stone pelting, because we are answerable in the court of law. But in today’s time, a stone is as lethal as a rifle,” he asserted.

“When my men face dilemma as how would they respond to stone pelting, I tell them you can’t pelt stones in return, use arms”, Rawat said adding that the army cannot be disrupted in its attempts to bring law and order.

General Rawat’s comments come on a day when seven civilians lost their lives when troops opened fire on protesters near an encounter site in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

World community must intervene to stop genocide of Kashmiris, Er Rashid

0

Handwara 15 Deceber: Asking New Delhi to stop genocide of Kashmiris, AIP President Er. Rasheed has strongly reacted to the brutal massacre in Pulwama at the hands of so called security forces. In a statement issued today Er. Rasheed said that the Pulwama massacre has exposed the tall but false claims of governor Mr. Satpal Malik that everything is normal in Kashmir and men in uniform have lost the moral right to be called security forces. Governor wants everyone to shut mouth and kill every Kashmiri who dares to speak against Indian colonialism and barbarism. Er. Rasheed appealed world community to take notice of Indian atrocities on unarmed Kashmiris and appealed human rights organizations to use their influence in stopping New Delhi from killing Kashmiris in cold blooded murders everyday. Er. Rasheed reacting sharply to Mehbooba Mufti’s statement that we cannot return to 1947 and need to replace idea of Azad Kashmir, accused her of creating confusion over Kashmir dispute and insulting the sacrifices of Kashmiris. Er. Rasheed said “Before sermonizing Mehbooba Mufti should answer what happened to her idea of self rule and like NC PDP too has diluted the intensity and the significance of resolving Kashmir dispute by giving Delhi made formulas. While the regional parties have so far miserably failed in playing their genuine role and making New Delhi understand significance of resolving Kashmir dispute in its historic perspective, unfortunately the regional forces have made themselves worse than baggers of New Delhi and should stop stabbing the resistance movement. The least Mehbooba Mufti can do is to keep mum rather distorting facts, diluting the real issue and implementing New Delhi’s agenda. It is horrible that despite facing huge humiliations at the hands of New Delhi Mehbooba still doesn’t learn lessons and is unnecessarily getting indulged in creating chaos and strengthening New Delhi’s unrealistic and false view point. Before asking Kashmiris to give up the logical and historic stand she must answer what happened to her self-rule formula. if she couldn’t get even minor concessions from New Delhi, she must stop from becoming mouth piece of those forces who try to mislead world community by creating false and negative perception about resistance movement”. Er. Rasheed added that Kashmiris are not enemies of India and resistance movement belongs to every Kashmiri irrespective of political affiliations and ideologies. He said “Rather being keen bent to dilute significance of Kashmir dispute Mehbooba should have asked New Delhi what it had to offer if it doesn’t agree to implementing UN resolutions. Why should Kashmiris find or search alternatives to UN resolutions if New Delhi is adamant to snatch even the constitutional guarantees which state is enjoying within Indian constitution”.
