SRINAGAR, April 22 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the terror attack and said those behind it won’t be spared.
“I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected,” PM said on X.
“Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice…they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger,” he added.
President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday termed terrorist attack on tourists as shocking and painful, and said that their dastardly inhuman act of targeting innocent citizens was unpardonable.
She also offered heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their dear ones and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
“The terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir is shocking and painful. It is a dastardly and inhuman act which must be condemned unequivocally.
“Attacking innocent citizens, in this case tourists, is utterly appalling and unpardonable. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their dear ones and my prayers for the quick recovery of the injured,” Murmu said in a post on X.
Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday vowed to come down heavily on the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack in which at least 12 tourists were injured. Promising the harshest consequences for those who carried out the attack, Shah said he would leave for Srinagar shortly to hold an urgent security review meeting with all agencies.
“Anguished by the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts are with the family members of the deceased. Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared, and we will come down heavily on the perpetrators with the harshest consequences,” he wrote on X.
Amit Shah said he held a meeting via video conferencing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is touring Saudi Arabia.
“Briefed PM Narendra Modi about the incident and held a meeting with the concerned officials via video conferencing. Will shortly leave for Srinagar to hold an urgent security review meeting with all the agencies,” he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday condemned the terror attack in the tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. I assure the people that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished,” the LG said in a post on X.
He said he has spoken to the director general of police and other security officials, and that teams of the Army and police have been rushed to the area to launch search operations.
“Directed the district administration and the health officials to provide immediate medical attention to those admitted at Pahalgam. An injured tourist has been evacuated to GMC Anantnag. I pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured,” he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack, saying it is an abomination.
“I’m shocked beyond belief. This attack on our visitors is an abomination. The perpetrators of this attack are animals, inhuman and worthy of contempt. No words of condemnation are enough. I send my sympathies to the families of the deceased,” he said in a post on X.
Abdullah said he has spoken to his ministerial colleague, Sakina Itoo, who has reached the hospital to oversee the arrangements for the injured.
He also said the attack is “much larger than anything we have seen” directed at civilians in recent years.
Meanwhile, later in the evening Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and other top security and administrative officials were also present during the high-level briefing held at Raj Bhavan.
The meeting comes in the wake of the attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which has raised serious security concerns in the region.
