Pakistan a failed country, a failed state, yet dialogue with it is imperative: Sagar

Date:

Jammu, Mar 05 : During the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s address, veteran National Conference (NC) leader and MLA Khaniyar, Ali Mohammad Sagar, on Wednesday termed Pakistan a “failed state.” However, he emphasized that despite Pakistan’s dismal condition, the Government of India must engage in dialogue to ensure peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sagar said during his address that it is a well-known fact that Pakistan has failed as a country and as a state. Yet, he stressed that dialogue with Pakistan is essential to establish lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sagar also criticized the BJP over its rhetoric on Article 370, asserting that it is the National Conference that has made immense sacrifices for the core interests of Jammu and Kashmir. He challenged those who now portray themselves as the saviors of the region to reflect on their contributions.

“It is we who have given immense sacrifices. Our workers, block presidents, and even senior leaders were killed. What has the BJP done for Jammu and Kashmir? Nothing. It is ironic that the party cannot even tolerate a single Muslim-majority state in the country. What can be expected from it?” Sagar said.

He added that the massive mandate the National Conference received in the recent elections is proof that the party represents the aspirations and hopes of the people.

“You [BJP] kept talking about ‘family raj, family raj,’ but in the end, you had to eat humble pie. The people have shown you what kind of leadership they want. On the other hand, you [BJP] couldn’t even field a candidate in Kashmir. All your members there have a tainted past,” Sagar said—(KNO)
