Bandipora, July 30: The negligence of doctors in the District Hospital of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district is taking a heavy toll on patient healthcare, forcing them to wait for hours and protest to catch the hospital authorities’ attention.
Asiya Begum, an attendant of a patient from Nusoo area of Bandipora, while speaking with Kashmir Despatch, said that since 11 o’clock, the doctors were asking them to go from one ward to another ward and forcing them to protest in front of the District Hospital Bandipora.
She also said that the doctors are playing a “hide and seek” game with the patients in the hospital, which forces the patients to go to private clinics.
Another local, Manzoor Ahmad, alleged that this is a routine in the hospitals, especially during night hours. “Out of two doctors, only one remains present at night hours, the other is on a phone call. The authorities are turning a blind eye towards us and forcing patients to suffer,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, the Medical Superintendent of Bandipora, Mohd Shafi Kuka, while speaking with the media, said that due to the patient workload in the OPD, the patient remained unattended for one hour, after which she was attended by the doctors when it came to his notice.
Replying to a question about doctors remaining absent during night hours, he said that the doctor provides an explanation for their absenteeism, and he assured that it will not happen again.
