BARAMULLA, Jan 23: The inhabitants of the Check Jamal Mir a village in Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday protested against what they call a total failure of the administration in providing them basic amenities.
The government has failed to address the problems of common masses in the area and the inhabitants of this village have been made victims of official apathy, the protesting natives of the village Check Jamal Mir told Kashmir Despatch.
“We have been residing here for the last seven generations. This is a very populous village in Pattan block. But we lack basic facilities especially the condition of roads is very bad,” the protesters rued.
The Kashmir Despatch team visited the village and saw the dismal condition of roads, electricity and water supply services. “There is lack of proper road connectivity,” a group of residents of the village told Kashmir Despatch during their protest demonstration.
The protesting residents said that the absence of basic facilities is taking a heavy toll on the lives of people living in this area of Pattan block.
Farooq Ahmed a local resident said that the village sans proper road, electricity and water supply service infrastructure and due to the apathetic attitude of the administration people of the village are compelled to migrate to other places.
However, the protesting villagers appealed authorities to look into their grievances so that no more families think of migrating from their village.
Tehsildar Pattan Moain Kakroo when contacted told Kashmir Despatch that he will direct all the concerned officers to look into the grievances highlighted by the protesting villagers at an earliest.
