VINOD BHAT

NEW DELHI, Jan 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several significant railway projects on January 6 at 12:30 PM via video conferencing. These initiatives aim to enhance connectivity, infrastructure, and socio-economic development in key regions across India.

A key highlight of the event will be the inauguration of the new Jammu Railway Division. Spanning 742.1 kilometers, this division covers vital routes including Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal-Pathankot, Batala-Pathankot, and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar sections. The creation of the Jammu Railway Division fulfills a long-pending aspiration of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

This project is set to transform the region by improving connectivity with the rest of India. It is expected to generate employment opportunities, foster infrastructure development, promote tourism, and contribute to the overall socio-economic growth of Jammu and Kashmir and its neighboring areas.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana. Located in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district, this state-of-the-art terminal has been developed at a cost of approximately ₹413 crore. It features a second entry and modern passenger amenities. The terminal, designed as an eco-friendly facility, will ease congestion at other busy terminals in Hyderabad, such as Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda stations.

Further, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building under the East Coast Railway. This division will improve railway connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and adjoining regions, fostering socio-economic growth and enabling better integration with the national railway network.

The Prime Minister’s focus on expanding India’s railway infrastructure underscores the government’s commitment to connecting underserved regions, promoting economic activity, and ensuring sustainable development. These projects, once operational, will serve as catalysts for progress in Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana, and Odisha, along with their neighboring states.
