Suhail Khan
Baramulla, Jan 06 : Serving one’s country does not require holding a government position or having a well-settled job. A person can protect their country in various ways, demonstrating courage through bravery and passion, ultimately earning a place in the nation’s legacy of heroism.
On March 1, 2023, Wamiq Parvaiz was passing through Baramulla town when he suddenly spotted a girl attempting to commit suicide from the cement bridge. Without hesitation, he rushed to the scene and, disregarding his own safety, jumped in after her. Despite her resistance, he managed to hold onto her and successfully brought her back to shore.
Such acts of bravery are rarely seen, and few people attempt to play such a significant role in their society. Wamiq Parvaiz not only saved a girl’s life but also set an example of courage.
Courageous youth play a crucial role in uplifting society, and Wamiq has already proven that he is willing to take action for the safety of his country.
In a conversation with Kashmir Despatch, Wamiq Parvaiz expressed, “If a person’s life does not contribute to saving someone else’s, then what is the value of that life?” He recounted the moment he saw the girl attempting to take her own life, saying, “I couldn’t just stand by; I jumped in after her.” He added that at one point, he feared he might lose control, but as they say, “when passion and determination are high, nothing is impossible.” Alhamdulillah, he succeeded in saving the girl’s life.
He emphasized that in saving someone’s life, his efforts may matter more than achieving worldly success. Wamiq stated, “I am truly grateful to Almighty for giving me the strength to save someone’s life.”
In a message to the younger generation, Wamiq advised them to aspire for a better future, avoid wrongdoing, and wisely utilize their parents’ hard-earned resources for a brighter future.
