SRINAGAR, July 20: National Investigation Agency on Wednesday carried out raids at nine locations in Pulwama and Srinagar districts in connection with recovery of 15 pistols and other ammunition at Chanapora here in May this year.
Official sources said that NIA sleuths with the assistance of police and paramilitary CRPF personnel carried out raids at five locations in southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district and four places in Srinagar district.
The raids pertained to recovery of 15 pistols, 30 Magazines, 300 rounds and seizure of one Scorpio vehicle at Chanapora here on May 23 and police had claimed that militants were planning to carry out hit and run cases using the weapons. Four accused were claimed to have been arrested by the police in connection with the case. Later the case was taken over by the NIA.
“Today NIA conducted searches at 9 locations in Kashmir (4 in Srinagar District and 5 in Pulwama District) in the case related to the conspiracy of carrying out (militant) activities in and around Srinagar, in which four accused persons were arrested and 15 Pistols, 30 Magazines, 300 rounds and one Scorpio vehicle were seized. The case was registered initially in PS- Chanapora, Srinagar as FIR no 31/2022 and was re-registered by NIA on 18.06.2022,” NIA said in a statement issued here.
“The searches conducted today at the premises of accused and suspects in the case have led to the recovery and seizure of digital devices and other incriminating materials,” it said, adding, “Further investigations in the case are in progress.”
