Blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad National Highway For an Hour.

Pattan, 24 Sep :Inhabitants of Singhpora pattan of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged protest against Jalshakti department and blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad national highway at Singhpora for an hour on Thursday afternoon .
Sources said that Local residents of this area are facing immense problems due to non-availability of drinking water in the area, “It has been more than a year that the area is without proper water supply” said a protester arsheed ahmad.
The protesters included children, women assembled at Singhpora on srinagar-muzafarabad National highway and raised slogans against the department, the residents have been complaining of severe shortage of drinking water from past two weeks.
Residents alleged that due to callous attitude of the department, the issue was not addressed even after giving several reminders to the concerned authorities.
We the locals are suffering badly for want of potable water, we approached concerned department many times but no action were seen by them, with the result we protested against the department today.
Meanwhile, Tehsildar Singhpora Nisar Ahmad, SDPO Pattan and DO Mirgund went to the spot and Tehsildar assured the protesters to redress the issue soon and he said that we will provide them water through water tankers so that they heave a sigh of relief .
However the protesters dispersed peacefully after the assurance of Tehsildar Singhpora and later the traffic movement was resumed which was halted by the protesters .
