Rising Temperatures Prompt Possible School Schedule Changes in Kashmir

Date:

Srinagar, May 22 – With Kashmir experiencing a severe heatwave, education officials are reviewing potential adjustments to school hours to ensure student safety amid soaring temperatures.

Reliable sources told Kashmir Despatch that revised school timings could be implemented soon, following unpredictable weather patterns and government-issued heat warnings.

District administrations across the valley have repeatedly alerted residents about the extreme conditions, emphasizing preventive measures and inter-departmental coordination to mitigate risks.

Authorities have advised the Education Department to reschedule classes where needed and limit student outdoor exposure during the hottest parts of the day.

Meanwhile, municipal and water supply departments have been directed to enhance public amenities, including uninterrupted drinking water access and frequent road sprinkling to reduce dust and heat effects.

The growing demand for revised school hours comes as parents and educators raise alarms over children’s health during travel in the blistering heat.
