Baramulla, July 09 : Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday hinted that the government may reconsider the revised school timings introduced after the summer break, following improved weather conditions and parental feedback.
While speaking to the media during her visit to Baramulla, Itoo acknowledged the concerns expressed by the public over early school hours. She explained that the decision to shift school timings earlier was taken to safeguard students’ health during the intense heatwave witnessed across the Valley.
“We had been facing one of the harshest spells of heat in recent memory. The adjustment in timing was purely a preventive step to protect children from heat-related issues,” she said.
Thanking the Almighty for the recent rainfall and temperature drop, the minister said, “We had all been praying for relief from the heat, and thankfully the weather has improved.”
She further assured that the department is actively listening to concerns raised by parents and educators. “Our top priority is to ensure that children’s education continues smoothly, without putting their comfort or well-being at risk. Based on feedback and changing weather, we are open to reviewing the current schedule,” she added.
The minister said that any future changes would be made with a balanced approach, ensuring both academic continuity and student welfare. (KDC)
