Can’t afford to watch people suffering for basic healthcare: Officials

The sub district hospital Sopore has reopened its general medicines department for the patients after a year following the outbreak of coronavirus last year in 2020.
According to official reports the Sopore sub district hospital that caters to a huge population of Sopore, Zaingeer, parts of Handwara, Bandipora and outskirts has reopened for general medicines in OPD section, a move hailed by the locals.
An official said that the general wards were opened for the good of locals here at Sopore.
“It has been almost one and half year, when general ward was not functional at SDH Sopore.
Talking with this newspaper Dr Rudyana said the opening of general ward will help the common masses of Sopore and I will do my best to provide proper basic healthcare facilities to the common people,” she said.
“The decision was taken for the betterment of the locals and we will be providing basic healthcare facilities 24×7 at SDH,” she added.
With an increase in covid positive cases, the SDH Sopore is reportedly handling the cases from other parts of Baramulla also giving a tough time to healthcare staff at SDH.
The locals while hailing the efforts of incharge BMO Sopore said that she is taking every step to make health care function properly at SDH Sopore.
“We are thankful to Dr. Rudhyana who opened the SDH Sopore for common people. Earlier I used to travel 20 kilometers to Baramulla hospital for the treatment but now the facility is available at our doorstep,” said Imtiyaz Ahmad, a resident of Zangeer, Sopore
