Baramulla, July 5 – The Sikh community in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district observed the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji with a meaningful act of service.
Holding brooms, devotees embarked on a cleanliness march, sweeping the streets as a gesture of devotion to the Sikh Guru’s principles of humility, compassion, and community welfare.
The procession resonated with devotional songs and prayers honoring Guru Gobind Singh Ji, as nearly 7,000 Sikhs—men, women, and children—walked toward Chati Padshahi Gurudwara in Baramulla.
“This is more than a celebration; it’s a way to live by Guru Ji’s teachings,” shared a participant. “He emphasized equality, cleanliness, and selfless service. Today, we embody those values.”
People of all ages joined the march, which moved through various neighborhoods, earning admiration from locals for its message of unity and civic responsibility.
A woman among the participants expressed, “Guru Ji inspired us to stand for truth and kindness. Cleaning our surroundings is a small step toward serving humanity, which is the highest form of worship.”
The Gurudwara management committee extended gratitude to the district authorities and residents for their support in ensuring the event’s success.
