Baramulla, Mar 20 : Sikh youth leader Amanjeet Singh lauded Javed Hassan Baig, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Baramulla and senior leader of the National Conference (NC), for highlighting the critical issue of political empowerment for Sikh and Pandit communities in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Singh extended his gratitude to Baig, acknowledging the MLA’s efforts not only to raise the matter but also to articulate it effectively during Assembly proceedings. “This proactive stance is highly commendable and reflects a commitment to inclusive governance,” Singh stated.
Emphasizing the ruling National Conference’s responsibility, Singh urged the party to honor its pre-election promises to the Sikh community. “As the party in power, the NC must take concrete steps to bolster the political representation of Sikhs and ensure their voices are heard in decision-making processes,” he asserted.
Singh further called for the inclusion of non-migrated minority communities in Kashmir under SRO-412, a provision aimed at safeguarding the rights and welfare of marginalized groups. He highlighted that the National Conference’s election manifesto explicitly recognizes the struggles faced by minorities in the region, underscoring the party’s moral obligation to address these issues.
Expressing optimism, Singh voiced hope that Baig would continue championing Sikh community concerns in the Assembly. “We trust Baig Saab will remain a steadfast advocate for resolving the challenges faced by Sikhs and other minorities in Jammu & Kashmir,” he added.
The remarks come amid renewed discourse on equitable political representation and the fulfillment of long-standing demands by minority communities in the region.
