Sopore, 14 Jan. : The Sopore police have been actively engaging the public with awareness programs focusing on new criminal laws and cyber awareness. On 14 January 2025, a session at Akash Institute provided valuable insights to students about current cyber threats, women’s rights, and the importance of understanding new criminal laws. Key topics included online safety, social media security, and the prevention of cybercrimes such as job fraud, matrimonial fraud, and identity theft.
SDPO Sopore, Shri Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, addressed pressing issues like crimes against women and the growing drug menace in society. The program also highlighted three new criminal laws: the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, which aim to replace outdated colonial laws and introduce a more modern and progressive framework for justice. These initiatives reflect the police’s commitment to educating and empowering the public on crucial legal and cyber issues.
