“Building has been identified, proposal already sent”

Sopore, Sep 16: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar on Friday said that a building has been identified for the establishment of Drug rehabilitation centre in Sopore.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch at the sidelines of a function organised in Dak Banglow Sopore, DC said that proposal for the rehabilitation centre has been already sent to the higher authorities for the establishment of a rehabilitation centre in Sopore and she added that hopefully ending this financial year the town will get its much needed rehabilitation centre that will help to curb the drug menace and rehabilitate persons consumed by this vice.
Dr Sehrish Asgar said that two councillors are always available at the beck and call of locals at every block who can render help to those people who remain to be clutched in drugs.
“They can council them, guide them while apprising them about the evils of drug abuse that not only devastates an individual but the whole society. They will also make necessary arrangements for their medical treatment,” she said.
Furthermore she asserted that those councillors are will be available on phone as well in order to guide those who yearn to get out of the clutches of drug and live a dignified life in society.
In her message to the people, DC said drugs can never be a solution for fighting our failures, one has to work very hard and with positivity & support one can achieve success in their lives. There are not shot cuts and drugs can never be a respite for our depression.
She hailed the efforts of MC President Masrat Rasool Kar for her dedication and hardwork towards the betterment of Sopore.
Earleir in his speech Councillor Irfan Ali also demanded that a rehabilitation centre must be established in the town. He said if Admin has provided one rehabilitation center for the people of Kupwara town why cannot they do same for the people of Sopore as it is the dire need of an hour. He also said that only police cannot always be given responsibility to end drug menace in society but other measures like the establishment of Drug Rehabilitation Centre remains equally important.
