Srinagar, Oct 05 : Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar is all set to witness one of the most exciting sporting events in recent memory as it hosts the final leg of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) tournament.

With seven thrilling matches scheduled from 9th to 16th October, cricket fans are buzzing with excitement at the prospect of seeing international stars such as Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Upul Tharanga, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, and Ian Bell in action.

Given the significance of the event, security arrangements are at the forefront of preparations.

Senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security agencies, have devised a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety of players, officials, and spectators.

Large number of security personnel will be deployed around the stadium and key areas, while multiple security checkpoints and surveillance systems will be in place. Additionally, more CCTV cameras have been installed in and around Bakshi Stadium, constantly monitored by top officials to prevent any untoward incidents.

Speaking about the meticulous security planning, a senior police official said.

“We have left no stone unturned in ensuring maximum security. Multi-tiered checkpoints, constant surveillance, and enhanced patrolling will be part of our strategy. We are fully prepared to handle any situation and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.”

Apart from the physical security presence, special arrangements are being made for crowd management. Barricades and designated entry points will control the flow of spectators, while strict frisking will be conducted to maintain a peaceful environment inside the stadium.

Local authorities have assured fans that the measures are meant to facilitate their comfort and safety, encouraging families and individuals alike to enjoy the cricketing festivities.

The tournament will culminate in a grand finale on 16th October, and preparations are in full swing to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for both players and spectators.

This marks a historic moment for Kashmir, as it’s the first time in nearly 40 years that an international cricket event of this magnitude will be held in the region.

Fans and cricket enthusiasts across Jammu and Kashmir are eagerly awaiting the return of global cricketing legends, who have captured the imaginations of millions worldwide.

The Lt. Governor led administration also expressed pride in the event, saying, “This is a proud moment for Kashmir.

Hosting the Legends League Cricket is not just about the sport; it highlights the growing cultural and sporting significance of the region. The world’s attention will be on Kashmir, not only for its beauty but also for its ability to host world-class events,” a senior official of the administration said.

The excitement among cricket fans is palpable, with tickets selling fast and spectators from across Jammu and Kashmir planning to attend the matches. For many, the chance to witness legendary players up close is a dream come true.

Feroz Ahmed, a lifelong cricket fan from Srinagar, expressed his enthusiasm: “It’s a surreal feeling. Watching cricket legends like Chris Gayle, Ian Bell, and Shikhar Dhawan play live in Srinagar is something I never imagined. This is going to be a spectacle we’ll remember for years.”

News agency further reported that local sports enthusiasts also view the tournament as a powerful boost to cricket in Kashmir, providing inspiration to young and aspiring cricketers.

Asim Shabir, a local cricketer said, “This event is more than just entertainment. It’s an opportunity for our young players to learn and be motivated by some of the best cricketers in the world. The Legends League Cricket shows that Kashmir is ready to host international-level sports, and it sends a strong message about the region’s capabilities.”

Bakshi Stadium was chosen as the venue over Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium due to its larger seating capacity of over 30,000, allowing more fans to witness the action.

Traditionally a football ground, Bakshi Stadium has undergone significant transformation, with pitch curators from the United States working on the surface to make it suitable for cricket. This innovative preparation is aimed at offering an excellent playing experience while ensuring that the pitch remains versatile for both cricket and football in the future.

The LLC tournament began in Jodhpur on 20th September, followed by matches in Surat, before moving to Jammu and Srinagar for its grand conclusion. Six teams are competing in the tournament: India Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Konark Suryas, Manipal Tigers, Southern Super Stars, and Urbanrisers Hyderabad.
