Date:

Srinagar, 17 Jan : Transport Commissioner Jammu and Kashmir, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, during his visit to the RTO office in Kashmir, stated that the department is committed to ensuring road safety by curbing violations and promoting compliance with traffic rules.

Talking to media on the sidelines of a visit to RTO Kashmir office in Srinagar, Vishesh Paul Mahajan said, “The constant drive against violators continues to ensure road safety. Those found violating traffic rules will face strict action, which may even include the cancellation of licenses.”

Talking about menace of stunt riding, Mahajan warned, “If parents cannot control their children engaging in such acts, the department will take strict measures against them. If someone’s life is endangered due to reckless behavior, we will act decisively.”

On the transport subsidy scheme, he clarified that it is aimed at phasing out vehicles older than 15 years, including buses, matadors, and mini-buses. “Any bus exceeding 15 years must be scrapped following due procedures,” he said.

Responding to transporters’ demand for a comprehensive transport policy, Mahajan said, “A draft policy has been sent to the government. Once there is further action, we will inform you accordingly.”
