Srinagar, July 07: Tent accommodations have gained immense popularity among tourists in the picturesque region of Kashmir, contributing to the growth of the local economy. The unique experience offered by these tents allows visitors to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying a comfortable stay.

These well-equipped tents provide an alternative to traditional hotels, promoting sustainable tourism practices and minimizing the ecological impact of tourist activities. Nature-loving travelers are drawn to these accommodations, seeking responsible ways to experience the region’s wonders.

Strategically located near renowned attractions such as Gurez, Macchil, Bangus, Gulmarg, Uri and the stunning valleys and meadows, these tents enable tourists to explore the enchanting surroundings and engage with the rich cultural tapestry of the area.

Due to the increasing demand for tent accommodations, it is advisable for visitors to book well in advance to secure their spot amidst the breathtaking vistas of Kashmir.

Aijaz Ahmad, an owner of multiple tents in Gurez, expressed that these charming tents offer an extraordinary experience by blending modern comforts with the serene beauty of nature.

He assured potential tourists that they would not be disappointed.

“If you desire an exceptional adventure that harmoniously blends contemporary conveniences with the tranquil allure of the natural world, contemplate organizing your upcoming journey to Kashmir and opting to stay in one of these delightful tents,” he said.

The famous tourist spots in Kashmir Valley have witnessed a notable rise in tourist footfall in recent years.

To meet the growing demand for accommodation, locals have taken the initiative to arrange tented accommodations, thereby generating employment opportunities, stated a tourism officer.

Efforts are being made by the government to attract more tourists to other parts of Kashmir, particularly the border areas where clearance has already been granted.

A tourism officer said that in recent years, there has been a significant rise in tourist visits to the Kashmir Valley.

“To enhance the availability of accommodation for these incoming tourists, the local residents have taken the initiative to organize tented accommodations. This not only helps cater to the growing number of tourists but also creates employment opportunities,” he said.

He said that the government is actively working to attract more tourists to parts of Kashmir, particularly the border areas, where permission has already been granted.

Mudasir, a resident of Tethwal, said that the local youth have established tented accommodations and opened homestays to meet the accommodation demands of the increasing number of tourists visiting the Machil sector in North Kashmir’s border area.

Similar developments can also be observed in the upper reaches of Uri in Baramulla, which was previously susceptible to shelling from the Pakistani side.

With the soaring demand for tent accommodations, numerous local entrepreneurs have established their own businesses in this sector. They purchase the tents online from various well known travel companies and help in spreading joy across the valley.

These enterprises have had a positive impact on the local communities, empowering youth by creating employment opportunities and bolstering the region’s tourism industry.

Aadil Rasheed, a resident of Uri has purchased 10 tents from the Decathlon store and provides them on rent for travelers, trekkers and tourists.

“On a weekly basis, I earn some 10 thousand or more from the tents,” he said.

Aijaz, is of the same opinion. He said that the youth of Gurez ate now earning a handful amount besides providing best services to the tourists.

Tourists too have been enjoying the stay in the tents in the lap of nature especially in Gurez, Teetwal areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The allure of waking up in nature’s embrace, with majestic mountains as a backdrop and the untamed beauty of Kashmir at one’s doorstep, is unmatched. It was amazing to spend a few nights here in Gurez in the lap of nature,” said a tourist from Kerala.
