Missing labouer’s body retrieved

SONAMARG, June 03 : The body of a missing local labourer (sledge man), who disappeared after falling into a snow cavity due to the breakdown of a portion of Thajiwas Glacier in the hill station of Sonamarg in Ganderbal district on Sunday, has been recovered by rescue teams. Two tourists were rescued soon after the incident on Sunday.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that the rescue operation was resumed on Monday morning with the participation of police, SDRF, tourism police, army, and local volunteers to locate the missing laborer. The body of the missing sledge rider was retrieved from the snow cavity early Monday morning.
A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that deceased has been identified asManzoor Ahmad Khan (18), son of Mohd Yousuf Khan, a resident of Haknar Gund.
He said the body was shifted to PHC Sonamarg for medico-legal formalities and after completing the formalities later handed over to family for last rites.
He said a case in this regard has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
