Thousands attend slain militant’s funeral in Wadoora Sopore

Sopore, May 18 : Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of slain Hibz militant Irfan Ahmed at Wadoora village in North Kashmir’s Sopore on Saturday evening despite fasting.

Slain Irfan Ahmed was killed along with two other militants on Saturday in a gunfight with government forces at Panzgam area of Pulwama in south Kashmir.

Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Despatch that as soon the body of slain militant reached his ancestral village Wadoora , thousands of people including women from adjacent villages poured in to have a last glimpse of slain militant.

Reports and eyewitness said amid pro-Pakistan, pro-Azadi, and anti-India slogans the mourners took the body to martyrs graveyard and offered last rites of slain militant. He was laid to rest amid sobs and tears.

Slain Irfan is survived with 3 year old daughter, wife.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier this day authorities suspended internet services in Sopore town as a precautionary measure following the gunfight at Hathlangoo village of Sopore where a local militant was killed.

Police later in a statement identified slain militant as Waseem Ahmed Naik son of Abdul Gani Naik of Udipora Barsoo Awantipora.
