Bandipora Nov 30: District administration Bandipora, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Tribal Affairs, organised a one-day tribal winter festival at Keston village in the Aloosa area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Ketson was recently declared a tourist spot. It is around 15 km away from district headquarters in Bandipora in the green pastures of Aloosa. The festival was aimed at bringing awareness to people about homestays, horseback riding, hotel management, etc.
The festival was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad. Locals, while hailing the efforts of district administration Bandipora for promoting tourism in far-flung areas of the district, said that this move will increase employment opportunities for these tribal and far-flung peoples of the district.
“We welcome this move by the district administration in Bandipora. We are also thankful to LG Manoj Sinha and the tourism department, who recently declared this place a tourist spot. This move will help and boost the economy of people in this tribal community, “Mohd Hussain Gojree, a local resident of Ketson village, added while talking to Kashmir Despatch.
Deputy commissioner Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmad, additional district development commissioner Afsar Ali Khan, officials from Tourism, and several other officials were present on the occasion.
