All Parties in J&K Condemn Pahalgam Attack, Vow to Uphold Kashmiriyat

KD NEWS SERVICE

SRINAGAR, April 24:  In a rare show of political unanimity, all major political parties in Jammu and Kashmir came together on Wednesday in Srinagar to adopt a strongly worded resolution condemning the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of several civilians, including the brave Syed Adil Hussain Shah. The resolution, adopted during a high-level All-Party Meeting, underscored an unbreakable collective resolve to defeat terrorism, safeguard communal harmony, and preserve the centuries-old ethos of Kashmiriyat.

The meeting, convened in the wake of the ghastly assault that shocked the region, saw political leaders rise above party lines to express anguish over the brutal killings. The resolution described the attack as “a direct assault on the values of Kashmiriyat and the idea of India,” and pledged full support to all efforts aimed at bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Firm Commitment to Justice and Peace

Emphasizing unity in the face of terror, the resolution reiterated the political leadership’s unwavering commitment to peace and justice. Leaders at the meeting expressed solidarity with the victims and backed the Union Government’s initiatives to investigate the attack and ensure strict action against those responsible. “No act of terror can ever weaken our resolve or extinguish our indomitable spirit,” the resolution stated, capturing the mood of defiance and resilience in the Valley.

Homage to the Fallen Hero

A special tribute was paid to Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a young local horseman who was martyred while trying to save tourists during the attack. Hailed as a symbol of Kashmir’s hospitality and courage, Shah’s “valour and selflessness” were acknowledged with deep respect by all parties. His sacrifice, leaders said, will be remembered as a shining example of humanity in the face of barbarism.

Public Response Lauded, Communal Harmony Emphasized

The resolution also praised the public’s dignified and unified response. Peaceful demonstrations and the outpouring of support from ordinary citizens across the Valley were described as a reflection of Kashmir’s inherent spirit of unity and rejection of violence. Leaders urged people to continue upholding communal harmony and constitutional values, and to stand together in the face of attempts to divide society.

Concern for Kashmiris Outside the Region

In an important message of inclusivity, the resolution appealed to governments across India to ensure the safety and dignity of Kashmiri students and professionals living outside the Union Territory. It emphasized that no Kashmiri should face discrimination, harassment, or intimidation due to the tragic incident.

Call for Unity and Vigilance Against Hatred

The concluding section of the resolution urged all political, religious, and civil society groups, as well as the media, to act responsibly and reject any attempts to sow discord. “We must continue working together for the peace and development of the region,” the statement read, emphasizing a united front against divisive forces.

The resolution was passed with unanimous support on April 24, 2025, reflecting a powerful moment of solidarity among Jammu and Kashmir’s political leadership—a unified voice echoing hope, peace, and a firm resolve to never let terror define the region’s future.
