SRINAGAR, July 11: An impressive felicitation ceremony was held by the Department of Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir to acknowledge the Handicrafts and Handloom artisans who represented Kashmir in the third G20 tourism and working group meeting and Youth 20 (Y20) group’s Y20 Consultation held at Srinagar.
During the function, the classical wood work displayed by Venoos furniture at the G20 event was also acknowledged. Veenos had put on display its masterpieces during the two events which brought tremendous honour to the Kashmir valley besides creating an opportunity for economic growth and social upliftment in the wood carving sector.
The exhibitions held at University of Kashmir and SKICC featured numerous stalls displaying variety of Kashmiri handicrafts, including Pashmina shawls, Silk carpets, Wood carving, Papier machie, and Copperware. The visiting delegates from more than 20 countries were left mesmerized by the craftsmanship and the live demonstrations by skilled artists created an immersive experience to the onlookers.
Director Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir distributed certificates among the artisans who had put their masterpieces on the display during the prestigious events.
The best master craftspeople who have done excellent work in the field of handicrafts for furthering the respective art had put on display their masterpieces during the two events which brought tremendous honor to the valley besides creating an exceptional opportunity for global economic cooperation and policy coordination among the world’s major economies.
While congratulating the participant artisans he hailed their dedication and commitment for their craft. Mohammad Mutayib Shah from the Veenos Furniture received the award of acknowledgment from Director Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir.
Pertinently, Mutayib is carrying on the legacy of Venoos furniture in his 3rd generation and is putting in tireless efforts for making a Kashmir proud for its craftsmanship in wood carving sector across the globe.
