Srinagar : Following the killing of 11 non local labourers in southern region of Kashmir by suspected militants forces on Wednesday carry out a cordon and search operation in an old way “crackdown”.
Crackdown is an operation where security forces surround a village and order all men to assemble outside, in a field or school ground. There, they are frisked and paraded while the soldiers go around searching the houses.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that forces including Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday carried out a Crackdown in Katraso village of Kulgam in an old way by made an announcement through loudspeaker.
Local reports said that they were paraded, and asked to head towards the nearest army camp, but the plan was cancelled later.
Meanwhile a delegation of 23 EU MPs on Wednesday ended a two-day visit aimed at a first-hand assessment of the ground situation in Kashmir after the revocation of the state’s special status.
