Pahalgam, April 29 : During his visit to Pahalgam—where terrorists killed 28 tourists last week—Rang De Basanti actor Atul Kulkarni urged people not to stop traveling to the region. Instead, he stressed the importance of preserving Kashmiriyat (Kashmir’s unique ethos of communal harmony).
Speaking to national media, as per Kashmir Despatch, Kulkarni described the recent attack as tragic and deeply painful. However, he asserted that halting visits would be counterproductive. “All Indians should stand in solidarity with Kashmiris, especially during this peak tourism season, and safeguard Kashmiriyat*” he said.
“Tourism isn’t just about economic benefits; it’s about forging emotional bonds between people. If we stop coming now, that connection will break,” he remarked. Instead, he encouraged more tourists to visit Kashmir.
Kulkarni added that traveling to the region sends a powerful message to terrorists: “This is our Kashmir, an integral part of India, and every Indian has the right to visit.”
Meanwhile, the Bollywood actor has been actively promoting tourism in Kashmir on his social media platforms using the hashtag #KashmirChale, sharing glimpses of his trip.
