Srinagar, May 24: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called upon the people to rid society of elements aiding and abetting terrorists, ensure that terror elements hiding among the public are brought to justice, and accelerate infrastructure and developmental projects to meet public needs.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone of a guest house at the holy shrine of Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar, LG Sinha as per Kashmir Despatch urged collective action against terrorism while emphasizing progress and development.
Paying homage to the innocent civilians killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Pahalgam, the Lieutenant Governor stated, Operation Sindoor avenged the Pahalgam terror attack by punishing the terror state Pakistan, firmly enforcing India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
He added, Our brave armed forces have not only destroyed terror factories deep inside Pakistan but have also drawn a new red line. Any future terror attack will be considered an ‘act of war,’ and Pakistan will face the harshest consequences.
We must strike hard at the terror ecosystem. Those aiding terrorists must be identified and punished just as severely as the terrorists themselves for wounding the soul of Jammu & Kashmir, LG Sinha asserted.
After the Pahalgam terror attack, the massive public protests against Pakistan across J&K were historic. The valley resonated with anti-terrorism slogans, reflecting the people’s resolve,” he noted.
The Lieutenant Governor also emphasized unity under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, calling for harmony among diverse communities. He criticized divisive rhetoric, stating, “Statements like ‘guests are spoiling J&K’s culture’ or ‘demographic invasion’ are deeply problematic. The public must reject such narratives.”
“I urge those in positions of responsibility in Jammu & Kashmir to stop using terms like ‘local’ and ‘non-local.’ We are all Indians. Dividing people undermines unity. Instead, work to unite society so that J&K can achieve greater growth,” he appealed.
He further said in his address, the Lieutenant Governor prayed for the blessings of Prophet Muhammad and Baba Amarnath to strengthen love, peace, and brotherhood in society.
The event was attended by Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board; Shri Nalin Prabhat, DGP; Shri Vidhi Kumar Birdi, IGP Kashmir; Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir; members of the J&K Waqf Board, senior officials, religious leaders, prominent citizens, and a large gathering of people.
