Zojila Pass Reopens in Record 33 Days, Restoring Vital Ladakh Connectivity

Date:

Srinagar : Zojila Pass, a strategic lifeline connecting Ladakh with the rest of the country, has been reopened in a record-breaking time of just 33 days by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

The swift reopening was carried out under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 15 and 14 Corps of the Indian Army, along with officials from Project Vijayak.

Zojila, one of the highest and most treacherous mountain passes in the region, is crucial for the movement of civilians, military personnel, and essential supplies. It usually remains closed for several months during winter due to heavy snowfall and frequent avalanche threats, severely impacting connectivity to Ladakh.

The timely reopening of the pass marks a significant achievement for the BRO, which has been relentlessly working to improve infrastructure in high-altitude areas. The efforts of the engineers and laborers involved in the operation have been widely appreciated, as the restoration of this key route will ease transportation and bolster economic activities in the region.

Officials have stated that the quick clearance of the pass underscores the commitment to maintaining all-weather connectivity to Ladakh. The reopening is expected to bring relief to residents, traders, and security forces operating in the area.

With improved road access, authorities anticipate smoother transportation of essential commodities, reducing dependency on air supplies and strengthening the overall logistics network in Ladakh.
